The questions everyone asks first.
No. It's a first-pass calculation from your postcode, your bill and your roof direction. A quote needs someone to look at your actual roof — pitch, tiles, shading, where your fuse board is. That survey is free and there's no obligation after it.
It helps, but east and west roofs still work — you lose roughly 15% compared with due south, and you get a longer, flatter generation curve through the day, which often suits a household that's out at midday. North-facing alone is rarely worth it.
It depends entirely on when you use electricity. If the house is empty during the day, a battery can take you from using about a third of what you generate to around three quarters — which is where the money is. If someone’s home all day, the panels alone already capture most of it. Our stage two estimate models both.
Through the Smart Export Guarantee. Every supplier over 150,000 customers has to offer an export tariff, and the good fixed rates currently sit around 15p per kWh, with some bundled deals higher. We register you as part of the handover.
